In 1989, as a memorial to all the people who worked in the dying industry, the City of Clichy chose to name a road after them. At the peak of its activity, more than 500 people were employed in this branch.
There were two main companies: the Rouquès Dye Shop (1824-1870) which would be renamed Rouquès-Maës (1870-1904) and the Michel and Chappat Dye Shop (1845- 1985).
