The opening of a tourist information centre in Clichy was deemed necessary for the following reasons, which were listed in a Municipal Office memo dated 1 April 1987:
Local businesses, clubs and associations often expressed the desire to be able to promote the town in order to attract new companies and jobs
The need to welcome visitors
The development of promotional activities in the hotel and catering sectors
A tourist information centre, managed as an association, was the obvious solution. Access to information, particularly concerning leisure activities, is possible through affiliation with regional and departmental bodies.
The information centre and the subsequent Tourist Office has been a member of the local tourist information body (UDOTSI Hauts-de-Seine) since 1987.
The 1988 records show that the centre received 100-130 visits and handled nearly 300 telephone calls per day.
